I'm going to Orlando tomorrow. Does anyone have any recommendations for fun things to do or places to go in or near Orlando? Any good restaurants, bars, etc.? I'd also like to go to the beach! Is Daytona Beach a good choice? Are there any lesser known nice beaches?
You guys were immensely helpful when I went to San Francisco. Granted, everyone knows and loves San Francisco. But don't a couple of you live in Florida?

Thanks!

I hate it.
And I hate police.
There, I said it.

I have felt absolutely shitty lately. I slept almost the entire day today.

My camera and my computer are fighting.

It is not even June yet and I am already cut up, sunburned, bruisy, and completely covered in bug bites. Funny that summer is my favorite time of year.

Last weekend I made a bunch of salsa, which made my fingers burn for hours, and then we went to a barbecue at Jess and Trevor's super fancy new house on the far south side.

Later we videotaped the Frontier Brothers show at Mohawk. Afterwards, I took a couple hits off of a joint and then became entranced by the snowflakelike shadows cast across my leg.

The next day we played croquet in the backyard at dusk amongst the fireflies (and mosquitoes) and went inside and played board games.

Can you guess what this drawing depicts? It's not a pirate.

On Tuesday I cut a lot of my hair off and now I am a better, happier, more beautiful person.

Wednesday was a great day. But, I forgot my camera battery. We rode our bikes across town, checked out a few thrift stores, visited the animals at the shelter, went kayaking, drank wine on the Long center lawn at dusk while watching little children invent games and tumble down grassy hills, went out for burgers and beer, and then saw a crazy gypsy band play at Spider House.

Most other times this week have involved accomplishing things, such as yardwork and purchasing furniture.

Today I spent hours at work reading other people's arguments. There's something amazing and beautiful about other people's arguments.

dairy queen

I had a weird reaction to this Dairy Queen the other day. The cloudy afternoon, the power lines, the Texas flags flopping in the wind... It all just seemed like a bit much.

But, let's get down to business.

Item number one:
We need a roommate. Do you know someone who needs a room?

Item number two:
I will be spending my birthday in San Francisco. April 15-18. Would you like to meet me in San Francisco?

Thank you. That is all.

I have the day off tomorrow and so far this is the plan:
Wake up early to take BF to work.
Target shopping.
Go home, get ready, dye hair, chores, lunch.
Dentist appointment.
Either meet up with Amy to retrieve lawn mower, catch up, and drink tea OR find a quiet place where I can read uninterrupted by myself for an hour.
Pick up crippled Sarah for 430 movie at Alamo.
Meet up with Todd for quick drink and/or food.
Square dancing lessons. (Yes, really)
Hootenanny at Scoot Inn?
Latenight show at Beerland.

Part of me hates days that don't allow time for napping or lazing. This is because I am spoiled and catlike.

As I stop by the bar for yet another cup of tea, the bartender looks at me and says, "Wait, so you're up there in the attic reading Proust? Sick?" and then erupts into laughter. Apparently I have evolved into some sort of pathetic caricature.

This seriously is beginning to feel like one ailment after another. I currently have the worst sore throat you could possibly imagine. It is raw and swollen and coated in a thick layer of unswallowable mucous.

We had breakfast at Cafe Mundi the other day, which was fantastic. At a nearby table, five or six young women in hippie pants chatted over coffee. Todd asked me if I wished I had a group of girlfriends like that, with whom I could meet up casually and talk about life. Of course I do. But it's hard to meet people. Especially women. Especially the type of intelligent, opinionated, creative, cynical, introverted women whose company I enjoy most. He asked if maybe I could have met someone at the art exhibit I went to on Saturday night. But when I went to the art thing, I walked inside, looked at the art, and then left, without speaking a single word to anybody. I am becoming weird. Or, weirder.

Also. I fucking hate wedge shoes and I don't understand why I see them everywhere.

I am in a whole lot of pain right now. Ow.ow.ow.ow.

I want a honkin' slice of King Cake and a mug of black coffee. And a handful of percocet.

I spent the entirety of yesterday in a state of high school regression. Met up with Sarah in the evening to see some bands play downtown, where she had an unfortunate accident in the mosh pit and broke her leg in two places. Yikes.

The good news is that I must have ridden my bike 30 miles yesterday.

And I am so very excited about the coming exhibit at the Blanton.

Also, I think it's time to grow up a little.
